Job Description
The Director of Merchandising for Knits leads product strategy, assortment creation, and evolution for the full-price business. This role is responsible for driving the regional assortment architecture for Women's Apparel Knits and Sweaters by aligning regional needs with global strategies to meet market demands and achieve top-line sales and profitability targets. The Director of Merchandising closely partners with design, raw materials, supply, as well as Regional Sales and Planning teams to ensure the region is well positioned with right product mix and able to achieve or exceed financial goals.
What You'll Do
- Define and lead merchandising strategy for the global assortment that aligns with brand strategy and regional business objectives.
- Build and refine seasonal assortments aligned with financial goals and brand positioning.
- Partner with regional teams to provide category strategy, feedback, and regional product needs.
- Analyze market and sales trends as well as competitor and consumer insights to lead strategy on evolution of Knits product.
- Provide strategic oversight on pricing and in-season action.
- Demonstrate Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner closely with Design, Supply, Raw Materials, Planning, Marketing, and Visual Merchandising to ensure a seamless product launch.
- Participate in showroom set ups with Visual Merchandising.
- Leads by example and operates effectively in the face of change and pressure.
- Provides leadership within the merchandising team by directing, focusing and motivating team members.
- Monitors development and performance of direct reports through regular meetings to discuss deadlines, expectations, performance and development.
- Continuously drives to innovate and improve our business and processes.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree (Merchandising or Business, preferred).
- 7+ years’ experience in related merchandising/buying.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Detail oriented / fast paced.
- Proactive in anticipating the needs of the global assortment.
- Strong Financial analysis ability.
- Strong fashion taste level and eye for product in terms of trend and market.
- Ability to work with Design, being conscious of profitability.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects with adherence to deadlines.
- Detail oriented/innovative traits are necessary.
- Able to find the best solutions and develop methods to improve efficiency.
- Flexible to adapt to changing trends of business and priorities.
- Able to manage multiple Go to Market calendars. Strong influencing skills and ability to build strong cross functional relationships.
