This is a great opportunity for a talented and passionate engineer to bring fresh perspectives to build and maintain our amazing rental products that are used by 1000s of our employees and further accelerate our digital rental strategy.
What you’ll do:
The key objective of this position is technical ownership of the Avis and Budget digital rental employee application used on a global scale. You will oversee an augmented team of engineers to perform the technical design, implementation, and QA to meet the goals of the rental value stream modernization. You will interface with architects and product owners, while keeping a laser focus on the performance of the solution
• Work with architecture to plan and develop the technical product roadmap incorporating the support of new business features/models, achieving the composable UI digital rental strategy
• Own the high-level design of the technical solution and exploration of solution alternatives
o Define subsystems and their interfaces and responsibilities following the set design guidelines
• Identify, define, and support the iterative development minimizing technical debt while balancing the delivery of benefits and outcomes to the wider organization
• Collaborate to prioritize and determine the capacity allocation alongside product management and engineering colleagues
• Provide oversight and improve built in quality and technical agility
• Identify improvements on the tool sets for improving delivery quality and agility
• Define proper benchmarks on code quality, automated test coverage, etc. and think quality and observability first
o Be responsible for Performance, Security, Compliance, Scalability and Resilience of ABG Rental Applications within the portfolio
o Shape how products align with ABG overall strategy, reducing legacy and consolidating strategic functions where appropriate
What we’re looking for:
• 4-year degree in Computer Science (with professional experience) or relevant work experience
• 7+ years of experience writing and debugging software products with a consumer focus - using java, python, NodeJS, angular
• Desire to work within a team of engineers at all levels of experience
• Experience working with AWS cloud environments, containerized applications, Kafka event driven architecture and microservices, Redshift
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
