Perform highly advanced LAN / WAN activities.Create and document all actions, practices, procedures and processes.
Confer with management, define the bounds and aims of network implementations, and provide management with status and progress reports.
Plan and design projects.
Analyze existing network and system procedures for efficiency and effectiveness.
Integrate data telecommunications networks; network design and installation.
Analyze business requirements to design and implement infrastructure solutions based on a Windows platform and Microsoft Server software.
Evaluate potential network enhancements.
Work under limited direction.
Install, configure, troubleshoot, and monitor core network services such as fail-over, load balancing, bandwidth monitoring, caching, and VPN.
Possess a customer/user - focused attitude.
Interface with team members, clients, customers, and vendors.
Provide technical expertise in a variety of areas.
Other reasonable Network Engineer services associated with the planning, deployment, installation, administration, and management of agency networks.
Desired Experience
Position Requirements Minimum Qualifications Expert knowledge of network architecture design principles, practices, implementation, and LAN / WAN maintenance. Expert knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, routing, subnets, services management, DNS, and VPN. Expert knowledge of the following transport technologies: ISDN, Frame Relay, T1, T3, TCP/IP, Wireless (802.1x). Expert experience with Cisco routers and firewalls. Proficient in network design. Experience proactively securing network assets. Excellent verbal and written skills. Knowledge of and experience with different server operating platforms. Experience with a variety of switching, router, firewall, and network equipment. Strong working knowledge of WAN & LAN Technologies (ATM, MPLS, Frame Relay, ISDN, IPSec VPN)Network & Routing Protocols (TCP/IP, Net BIOS, Ethernet, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, HSRP, QOS)Network troubleshooting including application performance debugging and Sniffer analysis.Working knowledge of Internet email (smtp, mx records troubleshooting)Working knowledge of DNS, Internet Infrastructure, and IP informational toolsUnderstanding and implementation experience of SNMP and SyslogExperience with monitoring tools such as Cisco works, Solar winds, etc.Knowledge of testing equipment (example T-Berd, Ethernet test equipment preferred)Working knowledge of Microsoft Visio for documentation.Knowledge of Microsoft Project Ability to travel 65% to 85%.
